Fines charged “on the spot” for minor offences. The stamps were issued as proof of payment. Larger vehicle fines were settled in court. When you were given a receipt for a minor offense you had to go to a police station with the receipt and pay the fine. At that time the stamps were applied to the receipt as proof that the fine was paid.

Sometime during the year 1993 a new design was introduced, replacing the old one. From this point on this is the design used for the Traffic Offence Stamps.
