ECHO'S PHILA HOUSE

This listing is only of the items that I have had access to (original or photostat) and is not meant to be an exhaustive listing of the Philatelic Literature of Bangladesh.
Jain, Manik, Postal stationary of Bangladesh, Bangladesh, date of publicaion?, 18 pps, plus cover.
The booklet covers the provisional overprinted postal stationary of Pakistan, and includes the 1972 Mujib issues. I am not familiar with this booklet and did not know of it’s existence until 2014 when I saw it being sold on the internet.
Alam, Dr. Kazi Shariful, POSTAL STATIONERIES OF BANGLADESH. Twenty three pages. No further information available.
This small booklet is the only source I am aware of for the stationeries of Bangladesh. It ends with the year 1994. It is easy to read and shows the various items.
Sheikh Shafiqul Islam and Siddique Mahamudur Rahman, POST OFFICE RUBBERPRINT 'BANGLADESH' ON PAKISTAN STAMP AND POSTAL STATIONARY 1971-1974. No further information. Newly published in late 2015.
Bangladesh Post Office, BROCHURE ON BANGLADESH STAMPS, 1981, 40 pages. No further information
This small booklet has a photo of each stamp in black and white with the salient facts about them and a brief description of the subject. It ends with the Begum Roquiah stamps of 9 December 1980. Outdated, but interesting.
Bangladesh Post Office, POSTAGE STAMPS OF BANGLADESH 1971 - 2002, Postal Printing Press, Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 100 pages plus hardcover and dust jacket.
This publication has the stamps illustrated in color, by year, but it is full of errors, both spelling and information. Never-the-less, it is the companion piece to the book they published later .
Bangladesh Post Office, POSTAGE STAMPS OF BANGLADESH 2002 - 2007, Postal Printing Press, Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladaesh, 2008, 84 pages, plus cover, hardcover.
This is the companion piece to the above book and is much more informative, beautifully laid out with every page full of illustrations and a nice addition to any collection. Price: Tk.400, US $12 (no other prices listed).
Drake, C.W., BANGLADESH POSTAGE STAMPS AND POSTAL STATIONERIES, Unpublished, 2001, Eighty three pages
The late Mr. Drake was an avid collector of Bangladesh material and had been working on a catalog. There are numerous bits of information that are helpful in understanding what was happening in the early days of the postal activities. There were no illustration with the loose pages of his manuscript and some of the information is not easy to understand
Khan, Ishtiaque Ahmed, THE METER FRANKING CANCELLATIONS OF BANGLADESH, Bangladesh Institute of Philatelic Studies, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 1996. Seventy eight pages, hardbound with dust jacket. ISBN 984-570-000-4

Kingshuk, & Bangladesh National Philatelic Association, BANGLADESH STAMP DIRECTORY, Editor Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Prime Art Press, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 1988. Thirty two pages, soft cover.
This little book was quite useful when first released, but soon became outdated as new stamps were issued and more detailed information became available.
Lava, THE AIR POSTAL STATIONERY OF BANGLADESH, Not a publication, 20 pages (Cover, Description of types, 13 pages of listings and prices, 5 pages of illustrations. No further information available. Stapled pages.
This appears to be a listing of overprinted Pakistani Stationery that served as a price list for the Lava stamp company. They determined that there were 23 varieties of Pakistani Aerogrammes, 20 varieties of airmail envelopes and 10 varieties of airmail postal cards hand stamped during 1971/72. They simplified the hand stamps into 10 major types. While they most likely believed the material was genuine, time and research has shown that many of the listings are not genuine.
Rahman, Siddique Mahmudur, ROTARY MOVEMENT IN BANGLADESH, Bangladesh Institute of Philatelic Studies, Rajshahi University, Rajshahi, Bangladesh, 1991. Eight pages, softbound
This publication is useful for the listing of the Rotary overprinted set of stamps from 1987 and the cancellations on the covers. The problem is that it does not state that many of these “errors” and varieties were created for the philatelic market, it only refers to them as “misprints”. Price: U.S. $3.00
Rahman, Siddique Mahmudur and Abdus Samad, ARTIST K.G. MUSTAFA AND HIS EXCEPTIONAL DESIGNS. Published by Theme-O-Graph, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 2008, 72 pages plus cover. Softcover. ISBN 984-300-001644-9
