For those who do not know Bangla, this may appear to be an overprint. It is actually an abbreviation (SA BEE K) for the Sadharan Bima Corporation, a general insurance company. This stamp was used for fees on policies by their company and this is their way of cancelling the stamp, indicating it is now a “used” stamp. Many companies had their own cancelling devices to cancel the stamps. Companies purchsed sheets of the stamps and used them as needed.

A complete sheet of the Tk.5 stamp that had been cancelled by the company’s cancellor. These stamps are in mint condition, with full gum, but were never actually used. They obviously were cancelled after being purchased and were to be taken from the sheet when needed. By cancelling them after being purchased they would be of no use to someone if they were taken illegally. Note that there are no margin markings of any kind. The dark spots in the upper left and bottom right corners are ink marks from the cancellor. Also note that the cancelling device was made so that five stamps could be cancelled horizontally at the same time. Each row of five stamps was done with one impression of the cancellor. Some of the rows had more ink on the cancellor than others when impressed on the stamps.
